Khrome
Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 4, 2026
Khrome helps parents and caregivers create personalized storybooks for their families. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information, such as your name, email address, and Google account identifier when you sign in.
- Family and story information you choose to provide, such as child or family profile names, broad age ranges, interests, values, story themes, prompts, generated stories, illustrations, reader progress, ratings, and feedback.
- Photos or other images you upload so Khrome can create character references or story illustrations.
- Billing information handled by our payment processor, including subscription status, customer identifiers, invoices, and payment events. We do not store full payment card numbers.
- Technical information such as device, browser, IP-derived region, cookies, authentication session data, logs, and similar information needed to run, secure, and improve the service.
How we use information
- To create, save, and display personalized storybooks and illustrations.
- To manage accounts, authentication, family profiles, story credits, subscriptions, and support requests.
- To improve story quality, product reliability, safety, abuse prevention, and customer experience.
- To comply with legal, security, accounting, and operational obligations.
AI and uploaded content
- Khrome uses AI providers to help turn your prompts, family profile details, and uploaded photos into story text, character references, and illustrations.
- Uploaded photos may be processed to identify visible people in broad, non-sensitive terms such as adult, child, or family-role labels. We instruct these systems not to identify real people, verify identities, or infer sensitive traits.
- Do not upload content unless you have the right to use it and are comfortable with it being processed to provide the service.
Children's privacy
- Khrome is intended for parents, guardians, and caregivers to create stories for children. Children should not create accounts or submit information directly without appropriate parental consent.
- Because stories may include information about children, please share only what is necessary for the story experience. You can request access, correction, export, or deletion of family and child profile information by contacting us.
How we share information
- We share information with service providers that help us operate Khrome, such as hosting, database, storage, authentication, payments, AI generation, analytics, logging, security, and customer support providers.
- Current examples include Convex for database services, Vercel for hosting and legacy blob storage, Google for sign-in and cloud storage, Stripe for payments, OpenAI for image and vision generation, and OpenRouter for story and validation models.
- These providers may process personal information only as needed to provide their services to us, subject to their terms, data processing commitments, and security controls.
- We may also share information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
Cookies and local storage
- We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for sign-in, session management, preferences, security, and product functionality.
- You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may prevent parts of Khrome from working correctly.
Retention
- We keep information for as long as needed to provide Khrome, maintain your account, meet legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
- You may ask us to delete your account, stories, family profiles, uploaded photos, or generated assets. Some limited records may be retained where required for security, legal, tax, billing, backup, or audit purposes.
Security
- We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
- Please use a secure Google account and contact us promptly if you believe your account or information has been compromised.
Your choices and rights
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to certain processing of your personal information.
- To make a request, contact us at privacy@khrome.app. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
International processing
- Khrome and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. These locations may have privacy laws different from those in your region.
Changes to this policy
- We may update this Privacy Policy as Khrome changes. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as updating this page or providing an in-product notice.
