How it works
How do I make a personalized book?
Pick a book from the shop or start your own — birthdays, first days, new siblings, family heritage, and more. Add your child's name, age, and interests, then upload one clear photo after sign-up. Khrome writes and illustrates a full picture-book story in minutes. Read the digital edition in the app, then order the 8.5″ hardcover keepsake when you're ready.
Do I get a digital story before I order print?
Yes. Your illustrated digital story is ready in the app in minutes. Read it together, share it on screen, and order the printed hardcover only when you're happy with the preview — the digital edition is included with every hardcover.
Is a hardcover the same as a subscription?
No. Hardcovers are one-time purchases for a finished story. Subscriptions and the free tier are for creating more digital stories each month in the app. See current plan details on the pricing page.
Personalization
What gets personalized?
Your child's name, age, interests, and story themes shape the plot and reading level. One uploaded photo is used to illustrate them as the hero — with photo-likeness on every page and the cover. Khrome is not a name-only or generic avatar book; the illustration is built from your photo so the keepsake feels uniquely theirs.
What kind of photo works best?
Use a clear, front-facing photo with good lighting — face visible, minimal shadows, and no heavy filters. Avoid hats, sunglasses, or busy backgrounds when you can. A simple phone snapshot in daylight usually works well.
What ages are Khrome stories for?
Most families use Khrome for children roughly ages 1–9. Story tone and reading level match the age you provide. Younger kids often enjoy listening while a parent reads aloud; older kids can follow along on their own.

What does the hardcover include?
The Keepsake Hardcover is 8.5″ × 8.5″, typically 16–24 pages, with a dedication page in your words and a full digital edition included. It's printed and bound to order as a shelf-worthy gift for birthdays, first days, new siblings, family heritage, and other milestone moments.
How long does shipping take?
Hardcovers are printed and bound to order, then ship worldwide with free shipping in about two weeks. Timing can vary slightly by destination. Your digital edition is available in the app as soon as your story preview is ready.
Can I send a book as a gift?
Yes. Khrome works well for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and caregivers mailing a milestone gift. Order from a finished story preview and ship the hardcover directly to the recipient — gift-ready packaging with an optional dedication page.
Pricing
How much does a hardcover cost?
The Keepsake Hardcover is $44 USD and includes the full digital story. CAD and other presentment pricing may apply at checkout. App subscriptions are separate and optional if you want more digital stories each month.
What about free stories and subscriptions?
Khrome offers a free tier for digital stories in the app, plus optional paid plans if you want more stories each month. Hardcovers are always a separate one-time purchase from a story you've finished. See the pricing page for current plans, credits, and gift codes.
Privacy & support
How are my child's photos used?
A parent or guardian uploads photos and manages the account. Photos are used to create your story illustrations and character references for your book — not for unrelated marketing without your consent. Read the Privacy Policy for how we collect, process, and delete information.
Can I change the story after it's generated?
You can read and review the digital story in the app before ordering print. If something looks off, use the support options in your account or reach out before you place a hardcover order — personalized books are made to order.
What if my book arrives damaged?
Because hardcovers are personalized and printed on demand, we can't accept broad returns for change-of-mind. If your book arrives damaged or has a clear print issue, contact us through the support channel in the app or website and we'll work with you to fix it.
